ABSTRACT
Hip osteonecrosis is caused by inadequate blood supply
leading to the death of osteocytes. Ozone has a positive effect on cell
energy, oxygen metabolism, the antioxidant defense system, and microcirculation
in tissues. This case report describes a 45-year old male
who presented with bilateral hip pain due to osteonecrosis caused by
chronic steroid treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and who was
treated with intra-articular ozone.
Keywords: Intra-articular injections; osteonecrosis; ozone; pain management
