Kontrol grubunda %24
(n=13), FMS grubunda %62 (n=34) amalgam materyali bulunuyordu
FMS hastalarda amalgam materyali
varlığına göre 2 gruba ayrılıp değerlendirildiğinde hastalık semptom
süresi ve Fibromiyalji Etki Anketi değerlerinin amalgam materyali
olanlarda daha yüksek olduğu tespit edildi (p<0,01). Sonuç: FMS hastalarında,
sağlıklı populasyona göre artmış oranda amalgam restoratif
materyali bulunmaktadır. Aynı zamanda, FMS’li hastalarda amalgam
varlığında hastalık şiddeti artmaktadır.

ABSTRACT
Objective: There was no study investigating the assosiacition
between the duration of symptoms, symptom severity of fibromyalgia
syndrome (FMS) and restorative amalgam material. In this
study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between duration and
severity of FMS and amalgam material in comparison with the control
group. Material and Methods: The healthy population and patients
with FMS which are diagnosed according to the ACR (American College
of Rheumatology) 2016 revised classification criteria were included
in the study. Detailed anamnesis was obtained from all
participants and additional dental problems were investigated. FMS patients
were evaluated with fibromyalgia impact questionnaire. Oral
Health Impact Profile were applied to patients who had amalgam material.
Results: The study was completed with 54 patients in the FMS
group and 54 partipicates in the control group. There was 24% (n=13)
amalgam material in the control group and 62% (n=34). in the FMS
group (p<0.001). The duration of having amalgam material was correlated
with duration of disease symptoms (r=0.77; p<0.001) and fibromyalgia
impact questionnaire (r=0.83; p<0.001). When the patients
with FMS were divided into two groups according to the presence of
amalgam material, FMS symptom duration and fibromyalgia impact
questionnaire (FIQ) values were higher in patients with dental amalgam
material (p<0.01). Conclusion: In patients with FMS, dental amalgam
material is present in more than healthy population, and also the
severity of the disease increases in the presence of amalgam material.
